A section of the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood was closed Friday due to a suspicious package that prompted a bomb squad response.

The call came into the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s West Hollywood Station just before 10:30 a.m., according to Sgt. Charles Braden.

The package was in a parking lot at 9026 Sunset Blvd., Braden said. The building is the site of a tattoo parlor, a guitar store, and an accessories store, according to Google Maps.

Sunset Boulevard was shut down between Doheny Drive and Hammond Street. The Sheriff’s Department advised drivers to avoid the area.

Witnesses in surrounding buildings reported a bomb-squad robot was on scene.
