Los Angeles police were asking for the public’s help Wednesday identifying a driver who struck an 8-year-old pedestrian a week earlier and then fled the scene.

The boy was hit on Orchard Avenue just north of Washington Boulevard (map) in the Pico-Union neighborhood about 8 p.m. Oct. 8, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.

A white pickup truck hit the young pedestrian on Orchard Avenue and continued south toward Washington Boulevard, police said. The vehicle was described only as a white pickup with “black steps on the cab.”

The boy was in stable condition after being transported to a hospital, according to LAPD.

Anyone with information was asked to contact West Traffic Division Investigator L. Willmon at 213-473-0234 or 818-644-8020.
