Boy killed, several injured after bus, car collide in South L.A.

A child died, and two other people were hurt after a car and bus collided in South Los Angeles Monday morning.

At 10:21 a.m., a silver Hyundai Elantra and a Los Angeles Metro bus collided at Rosecrans Avenue and San Pedro Street in West Compton, resulting in the hospitalization of three people, according to the California Highway Patrol and Metro.


One of those injured, a boy, was later pronounced dead at the hospital due to his injuries.

In addition, the bus driver sustained minor injuries.

In a statement, a Metro spokesperson confirmed that no bus passengers were injured.

“Metro extends its heartfelt sympathies to those injured in this accident,” the statement said.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, the CHP said, and anyone with information can call 424-551-4000.
