Los Angeles police are searching for a second person believed to have been in a car that crashed and killed two spectators at an illegal street race in Chatsworth earlier this week.
The suspected driver, Henry Michael Gevorgyan, 21, turned himself in to police Friday night after reportedly fleeing the scene of the crash, which took place just after 2 a.m. on Thursday. He has been booked on suspicion of murder.
A second person believed to have been in the car with Gevorgyan has not yet been located, police said Saturday morning.
Authorities say the car veered out of control at the beginning of the drag race on Plummer Street and slammed into spectators lining the side of the road. Eric Siguenza, 26, of Los Angeles died at the scene. A man in his 50s, whose name police have not yet released, died after being taken to a hospital. A third man was hospitalized with serious injuries.
