An officer-involved shooting prompted authorities with the California Highway Patrol to issue a SigAlert on the westbound 105 Freeway at Long Beach Boulevard Sunday in Willowbrook.

Officers responded to calls of a pedestrian on or near the Wilmington offramp of the westbound 105 Freeway at around 3:15 p.m., shortly before the incident happened, according to CHP.

A unit arrived on scene and contacted the pedestrian, CHP officials said in a news release. “A struggle ensued and an officer-involved shooting occurred.” the news release stated.

Authorities did not provide any information about the suspect’s condition following the shooting or if any officers were injured.

A hard closure of westbound lanes of the freeway was requested for an unknown amount of time due to the police activity, CHP said on X, formerly Twitter.
