A clown fled on foot after approaching a Santa Clarita man who fired a gun into the air, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.

Two people dressed as clowns were riding bicycles near McBean Parkway at Arroyo Park Drive when one of the clowns decided to approach a man, deputies said.

As the clown moved in on the man, the man produced a handgun and fired one round into the air, according to LASD. The clown then fled the scene.

A man fitting the description of the clown was later taken into custody, deputies said. Authorities found a clown mask and knife in his backpack, as well as some possibly illegal drugs, according to the Santa Clarita Watch Sgt.

The shooter was arrested in connection with weapon violations and narcotics.
