CSUN Student Raped in Off-Campus Alleyway in Northridge: Police

A female CSUN student was raped in an off-campus alleyway after leaving the school’s annual “Big Show” event over the weekend, according to police.

The unidentified student left the concert and began walking to a friend’s off-campus apartment around 8:45 p.m. Saturday when the assault occurred, the California State University, Northridge’s Department of Police Services confirmed Tuesday.

She was walking through an alleyway between Prairie and Vincennes streets when a stranger sexually assaulted her, a Campus Crime Alert stated. She then flagged down a Los Angeles Police Department unit and reported the crime.

The student had told police she was raped, LAPD Sgt. Ville said on Monday. Further details from the LAPD were not made available.

The attack occurred just west of Reseda Boulevard, a highly-populated thoroughfare, and in an alley surrounded by apartment complexes, parking lots and dozens of businesses.
