Southern California deputies help deliver baby boy ‘who couldn’t wait’

Three deputies responding to a call in San Bernardino County earlier this week helped a mother deliver a baby boy, authorities announced Thursday.

The deputies were called to the 14300 block of Mcart Road in Victorville just after 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

They arrived to find a mother in active labor with a baby “who decided he couldn’t wait until mom got to the hospital,” the S.B. Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.

Deputy J. Tomasello is seen with newborn baby Bryson in an image provided by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department on March 14, 2024.

Deputy J. Tomasello immediately put his gloves on when the mother told him the baby was coming and she needed to push.

Deputies Robinson and Vasquez held the mother’s hand while she pushed and Deputy Tomasello readied to deliver the baby, the Sheriff’s Department stated.

Baby Bryson, a healthy boy, was born minutes later, according to the release.

Mom and son were taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary measures.

Deputy Tomasello later had the opportunity to visit the mother and Bryson, who were both doing well.

The Sheriff’s Department posted a picture of Tomasello with Bryson in its news release.

“Congratulations to the mother and baby Bryson! Great work deputies!” the Sheriff’s Department stated.
