Domestic Violence Suspect Found Hiding in Dryer by Oxnard Police Officers

A 30-year-old Oxnard man being sought for felony domestic violence was found hiding inside a front-loading dryer at his home on Friday.

Officers with the Oxnard Police Department were called to the scene of a domestic violence incident around 4 p.m. in the 400 block of South C Street, according to a news release from the agency.

After contacting the victim, the officers went looking for the alleged suspect, identified as Ivan Lopez, at his home in the 1000 block of King Street, the release stated.

Residents at the location told police Lopez had locked himself in the laundry room.

When officers entered the laundry room, it appeared that Lopez had fled before they arrived, police said.

But before leaving, the officers decided to check one last place for the suspect.

When they opened the door to the dryer, the officers found Lopez hiding inside.

He got out of the dryer without incident and was booked on suspicion of felony domestic violence and resisting arrest, police said.
