Explosion Leaves Propane Truck Driver in Critical Condition in Boyle Heights

A propane service truck driver was in critical condition Tuesday following an explosion at an industrial site in Boyle Heights, officials said.

The incident was reported at 11:51 a.m. in the 1700 block of South Perrino Place near East Washington Boulevard (map), according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A 40-year-old driver of a propane service truck was critically injured in the blast, according to Humphrey.

The driver was filling a tank at the industrial firm at the time of the incident, Humphrey said.

No other injuries were immediately reported and was unclear what caused the explosion.
