Ezell Ford, the 25-year-old South Los Angeles man fatally shot by police Aug. 11, was expected to be laid to rest Saturday.
A funeral service was set to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First A.M.E. Church located at 2270 S. Harvard Blvd., according to a funeral announcement sent to KTLA.
Ford’s family asked that attendees wear white clothing to the service, according to the announcement.
A fundraising page set up on gofundme.com stated money was being raised for the Ford family’s funeral expenses.
The 25-year-old was killed Aug. 11 near 65th Street and Broadway.

Ford, described as mentally impaired, was complying with officers when he was shot in the back, according to his family. Police contend the man tried to grab an officer’s holstered handgun.
The shooting death has prompted local protests and was under investigation.
