The mother, 54-year-old Michelle Kelly-Love, and her son, 27-year-old Jordan Love, were sitting in a vehicle along with Jordan’s grandmother Saturday night when they were fatally shot.

The grandmother was unharmed, but the two other victims — both parents — died.

“Three generations in a car out for a family outing,” Carson Mayor Pro Tem Lulu Davis-Holmes said as the reward was announced. “Three generations. And if it were not for the grace of God, it would all been taken away. So come forward. Come forward and do the right thing.”

No motive was known in the crime, and the Love family had no gang affiliations, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“I don’t have words because they already know what they should do,” said the Michelle Kelly-Love’s 13-year-old granddaughter Sydney Sims when asked what she wanted to say to the shooter.

Jordan Love was described by his wife as a loving father who was devoted to his 2-year-old daughter.

“He was like the yin to my yang, he kept me going,” his tearful wife Dramika Pegus said. “He loved us very much. He loved his daughter. That’s all he cared about was his daughter. She was his world, and I’m going to make sure she knows that.”

The shooter was believed to have pulled up in a dark-colored sedan and fired numerous rounds at the victims’ vehicle before fleeing northbound on Tillman Avenue, the Sheriff’s Department said.

A $25,000 reward was offered by the city of Carson on Friday for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for killing the mother and son.

Anyone with information about the shooting was encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
