An unvaccinated father of six has been released from Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley after being hospitalized for about five months with COVID-19.

At one point, doctors thought 50-year-old Laz Conde was not going to make it, but now, he’s finally free of the hospital.

“This is just really, I can’t even describe it. I can’t describe it and it’s just amazing, God has been with us this whole time,” said Nicole Conde, Laz Conde’s wife of 23 years.

Conde first contracted the virus in July from work, and since then, it’s been a nightmare for his family.

“Every day, I would be here at 9 o’clock in the morning until 6, 7 o’clock at night while my older kids just ran the household,” Nicole Conde said.

Laz Conde even suffered from multi-system organ failure and it didn’t seem like he’d survive, but in November, there were signs of hope.

He was taken off a ventilator and by December, for the first time in months, he was out of the intensive care unit.

The Condes said they’re grateful for those who saved Laz’s life, and they’re encouraging everyone to get vaccinated.

“We just think it’s very important to be vaccinated. Our whole family is vaccinated now. It’s very important,” Nicole Conde said.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family with medical expenses and can be found here.
