A New York City Fire Department captain was expected to be extradited to Los Angles after recently being arrested for allegedly committing crimes against at least two children.

Wilbert Riera was arrested Friday by Federal Bureau of Investigation officials on a felony warrant for a crime committed against children, Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Nuria Vanegas said.

The incident occurred on Sept. 12 in Hollywood.

Vanegas would not confirm that Riera was associated with the New York City Fire Department, but multiple news outlets stated that he was a captain, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Riera was expected to be extradited to L.A. at an unknown date, Riera said.

FBI officials assisted in locating and arresting Riera because he was not in the state the crime was committed, department spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said.

A federal warrant or charges were not expected. FBI officials would not comment on the case further.
