Los Angeles firefighters kept to less than 1 acre a brush fire that burned near homes in Pacific Palisades midday Tuesday.
The fire was reported at 11:46 a.m. at 15500 Via De Las Osas, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
No structures were harmed, and no evacuations were ordered. No one was injured.
Three city helicopters responded, as did 81 fire personnel on the ground. It took firefighters 52 minutes to knock down the blaze, Humphrey said.
City and Los Angeles County firefighters were working to mop up after the blaze.
Pacific Coast Highway was backed up, Humphrey said, warning drivers to avoid the area.
The blaze burned at the edge of a residential street overlooking the ocean, near the site of a blaze that burned about 2 1/2 acres Sunday morning. That fire, in the 100 block of North Temescal Canyon Road, burned for nearly 3 1/2 hours before being knocked down.
A west wind of 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph, was predicted in the Palisades area Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
LAFD tweeted that onshore winds were gusting to 35 mph during the firefight.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
