Gardena shooting leaves 1 dead

A person was fatally shot in Gardena early Monday morning.

The person, whose identity, age and gender have not been released, was found in the 15100 block of Vermont avenue at about 3:30 a.m., the Gardena Police Department said in a news release.


“Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim had been shot in the torso,” police said.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene, and the investigation into the shooter “is in the beginning stages,” police said.
