Geyser of Water Shoots From Marina del Rey Street Near Killer Shrimp

A geyser of water towered above Admiralty Way in Marina del Rey Tuesday afternoon after a tour bus collided with a fire hydrant, authorities said.

Witnesses reported the flow shooting dozens of feet into the air for more than an hour in front of the restaurant Killer Shrimp (map).

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was closing streets in the area, a Fire Department official said.

Firefighters were called to a “water flow alarm” at 12:12 p.m., the fire official said.

The flow was created when a fire hydrant was hit by a tour bus, Los Angeles County Department of Public Works spokesman Kerjon Lee said. They hydrant was expected to be replaced Wednesday, Lee said.

The flow had been stopped, Lee said about 2:30 p.m.
