A Hesperia man is facing a murder charge after he called 911 for his wife who had suffered a gunshot wound only for investigators to find out he was the one who had shot her, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Ethan Biroczky, 34, reported to authorities that his wife, Ashlee Bogdanoff, also a 34-year-old from Hesperia, had been “injured” and needed help just after 6 p.m. Wednesday at Summit Valley and Foley roads, the department said in a news release.
Deputies discovered that Bogdanoff had been shot. She was taken to a trauma center in critical condition and succumbed to her wounds on Thursday.
Investigators determined it was Biroczky who “was responsible for Bodganoff’s death,” and he was arrested on a murder charge.
The Sheriff’s Department declined to provide more details, including how many times Bodganoff was shot and a possible reason why Biroczky would call for help if he had allegedly shot his wife.
Biroczky is being held at the High Desert Detention Center without bail, and he is due to appear in Victorville Superior Court on Monday afternoon.
