Investigators on Thursday were trying to determine what may have led to the death of a high school student whose body was found in a Rancho Cucamonga home over the weekend.
Ramiro Alba was found unresponsive early Sunday morning at a home in the 6100 block of Morning Place (map) where Alba had been staying with a friend.
The Los Osos High School sophomore was pronounced dead at the home shortly before 4 a.m.
A party had been held at the home the night before Alba’s body was discovered, according to a report in the San Bernardino Sun.
Investigators were trying to determine if drugs or alcohol may have played a roll in the death, however, Cindy Bachman of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said there was “nothing apparent” that would have led investigators to believe drugs were involved.
“That will be a part of the autopsy,” Bachman said.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page has been set up to aid the family with funeral expenses.
“Ramiro’s mother, Bricia, has been the primary provider and caretaker of 5 children since 2008 and it has been all she could do just to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. Consequently, there is no way that they would—or could have been—financially prepared for this loss,” the page states.
A candlelight vigil was held for Alba at the school and grief counselors have been made available to students.
