Homeless people who were displaced after a law enforcement sweep of Echo Park Lake last week spoke out Tuesday against the massive cleanup effort that led to protests in the area.

One former resident said the Los Angeles Police Department came in with “a small army to separate a community for no other reason than political gain.”
