Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in the disappearance of a 58-year-old Santa Clarita resident who hasn’t been seen in almost a week, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.
William Cierzan, who has been missing since Thursday, was last seen at the couple’s Santa Clarita residence.
According to Linda Cierzan, the missing man’s wife, her husband had spent the day at home with their nephew. She last spoke with him around 4 p.m., after the nephew had left, the woman said at a Wednesday afternoon news conference.
He was making dinner at the time they spoke on the phone.
By 7 p.m., Linda Cierzan had returned home to find dinner on the stove, but her husband missing. She said she found his keys, wallet and car, but there were no signs of her husband.
Family members frantically searched for William Cierzan, whom they described as a “homebody,” but were unable to locate him, The Santa Clarita Valley Signal reported.
Linda Cierzan reported him missing to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station later that night.
During the investigation, detectives found apparent blood stains inside the residence, though they would not say how much blood or even if it belonged to the missing man, sheriff’s officials said.
Surveillance video also showed a car pulling up to the home around 5 p.m. that night, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, told KTLA the car in the video was familiar to the family.
“It sits there for like 10-15 minutes and then leaves,” the neighbor said. “It’s a family member’s of that house, it’s their lot.”
Officials said the car may belong to Cierzan’s nephew, who has given a statement to authorities but is not considered a suspect.
Cierzan is employed by Six Flags Magic Mountain, according to family members. He is described as 5-foot-8, weighing approximately 140 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair, The Signal reported.
Anyone with information on Cierzan’s whereabouts can leave a tip through Crime Stoppers by dialing 1-800-222-8477.
