A 34-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday, hours after another 34-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in her own Bell Gardens apartment.
Around 8:30 a.m., authorities were dispatched to a medical rescue call at a small apartment complex in the 6200 block of Agra Street, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.
Neighbors had reported hearing a “loud commotion” coming from an apartment, including a woman’s screams, and called 911. The woman was discovered unresponsive inside a unit by first responders, investigators said.
“They found a young woman suffering some type of traumatic injury to her upper body,” sheriff’s Lt. Derrick Alfred told KTLA. The department later said the victim, who died at the scene, had sustained multiple stab wounds and the death would be investigated as a murder.
Later Wednesday, a 34-year-old woman, reported to be the victim’s live-in partner, was arrested, the Sheriff’s Department said.
She was to be booked at the Bell Gardens Police Department on suspicion of murder. Arraignment was scheduled for Friday, and the woman remained in custody on $1 million bail.
Neither the victim nor the suspect had been identified as of Wednesday evening.
The Bell Gardens Police Department is also investigating the death.
