Hundreds protested in Westwood Saturday against Israeli airstrikes against the Gaza border.
Many chanted “the people united will never be defeated” as protesters took to the streets near the Federal Building and nearly shutting down Wilshire Boulevard around 5 p.m.
Protesters holding Palestinian flags said airstrikes against Gaza needed to stop.
“You have people who are unarmed, are being bombed, and the United Stated is claiming it’s a war, but it’s not a war. We don’t have an army, we don’t have a navy, we don’t have anything,” protester Amal Alkalla said.
Israel said airstrikes are in response to attacks by Hamas, which controls Gaza and the country holds responsible for the actions of militant groups inside the territory, CNN reported.
Over 150 people had died in Gaza and over 1,000 injured as of Saturday night.
