Los Angeles Kings star defenseman Slava Voynov was charged Thursday in connection with an alleged attack on his wife at the couple’s Redondo Beach home last month.

Viatcheslav Leonidovich “Slava” Voynov  faced one felony count of corporal injury to spouse with great bodily injury in the alleged attack, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Viatcheslav Voynov is shown in a booking photo released by Redondo Beach Police Department on Oct. 20, 2014.

The 24-year-old athlete was arrested by Redondo Beach police in the early morning hours of Oct. 20 at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance after officers were notified that a woman was being treated in the emergency room “for injuries that were possibly received during a domestic violence incident,” according to a statement from the Redondo Beach Police Department.

The alleged attack occurred during an argument at the couple’s home the night before that left Voynov’s wife with injuries to her eyebrow, cheek and neck, the release stated.

Voynov was set to be arraigned on Dec. 1.
