The civilian commission that oversees the Los Angeles Police Department will review Tuesday the actions of officers who fatally shot a homeless man on skid row last year, a shooting that captured international attention after a bystander posted video of the incident on Facebook.
Commissioners will determine behind closed doors whether the officers violated the LAPD’s policies on using deadly force, commission President Matthew Johnson said at Tuesday’s weekly meeting of the panel.
The March 1 shooting of Charly Leundeu Keunang, 43, came during heightened scrutiny of police shootings across the country, particularly those of black men.
