Juan Manuel Vierheller, 27, was last seen early May 13 at a campsite he was sharing on the shore of Crowley Lake, between Mammoth Lakes and Bishop. He was last seen by his family, according to the Mammoth Times.

That day, his fellow campers reported him missing to the Mono County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies searched for Vierheller, who had been camping at Beaver Cove, but they found no sign of him.

There were “indications that he went into the waters of Crowley Lake,” but a two-boat search did not find him, the Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook Tuesday.

Over the weekend, a dive team and California Highway Patrol helicopter aided in the unsuccessful search, which was called off Sunday night.

On Thursday, volunteer searchers were asked to gather in Mammoth Lakes, Sierra Wave reported.

A flier posted on the “Find Juan Vierheller” Facebook page said he may be confused or disoriented.

“The possibility remains that he walked away from the campsite, and until he is located, this investigation will be an open Missing Person case,” the Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.

The flier described Vierheller as both Caucasian and Hispanic, 6 feet tall, 250 pounds, with brown eyes and hair.

He is a bartender at Ecco Pizza Shoppe in Anaheim, which promoted a prayer event at a nearby park on Wednesday evening. The event page said Vierheller goes by “Spin.”

A GoFundMe page, which stated its intent was to pay for the search and to fund accommodations and food for searchers, had raised more than $21,000 as of Thursday.
