A SigAlert was issued on the southbound 405 Freeway through the Sepulveda Pass on Friday after a crash involving a motorcycle and vehicle left one man dead, authorities said.
The crash occurred north of Mulholland Drive just before 9 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol’s incident log.
A 50-year old-motorcyclist was initially reported to be gravely injured in the crash and was transported to a local area hospital, the Los Angeles County Fire Department stated in a blog post.
The unidentified man later died of his injures, according to the incident log.
A SigAlert was issued for the left two lanes on the southbound 405 Freeway at about 9:15 a.m., and was later canceled as lanes were reopened.
Traffic was temporarily backed up in southbound lanes past the 101 Freeway while the SigAlert was in effect, traffic maps showed.
