A man was taken into custody Wednesday morning after a police pursuit that originated in Westlake and ended in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, police said.

The incident began at 2:45 a.m. when officers attempted to pull over a man who was driving recklessly near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Bonnie Brae Street, said Sgt. Melvin Gamble of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The chase made its way through South L.A. before the suspect stopped at a Mobil gas station in the 7100 block of Crenshaw Boulevard, Gamble said. The driver was taken into custody shortly after 3 a.m.

One officer crashed during the pursuit but was uninjured, according to the LAPD. News video showed a patrol car had sustained damage to its right front end.
