The Long Beach Police Department has identified the person fatally shot by officers last month as a 17-year-old boy from San Bernardino.

The teen, whose name was not released, was shot on April 26 following a standoff related to a reported home invasion in the 6800 block of Cerritos Avenue, police said in a news release.

A person inside the home said at the time that he had been confronted by the robber before the would-be victim jumped out a window.

The teen, later found to be armed with a replica firearm, was in a standoff with police for about an hour before being shot by officers. The events immediately leading up to the shooting have not been disclosed.

Also on Monday, police revealed that another teen, 18-year-old Iskay Mota of Modesto, was also involved but fled before police arrived.

“He was arrested on May 1, 2024 and transported to Long Beach City Jail where he was booked for robbery and held on $100,000 bail,” police said.

He has since been released on bail, jail records show. No information on a court date was available.

The shooting of the teen remains under state investigation.
