Missing L.A. County teen found safe

A missing girl who disappeared in Lawndale last week was found safe Tuesday.

The at-risk juvenile was identified as Perla Mena, 16, by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“Thank you to the public, the media, Aero Bureau, and deputy personnel for their tireless efforts in the search for Perla,” authorities said.

At the time of her disappearance, she was last seen on the 14000 block of Osage Avenue at around 2 p.m. on Dec. 27.

The teen told a family member that she was taking a trip with her school, possibly to the mountains.

Her family had not heard from her and were concerned for her well-being, authorities said.
