A 50-year-old transient was arrested after allegedly admitting to investigators that he drowned a man in Carson and led them to his body, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated Sunday.

The Carson Sheriff’s Station received a call just before 2:30 p.m. Saturday from a man who allegedly said he stabbed someone and believed they were dead, an LASD news release stated.

Sheriff’s deputies then responded to a gas station at the intersection of South Vermont Avenue and Sepulveda Boulevard (map), where the call was generated, and made contact with the alleged caller.

The man then allegedly told the sheriff’s deputies he and another man were transients and lived in tents along the nearby 110 Freeway, and during a fight he drowned the man in a drainage ditch full of water.

He then allegedly led sheriff’s deputies to the body, located in an area along the northbound 110 Freeway.

The victim was only described as a 58-year-old man.

The alleged attacker was booked at Carson Sheriff’s Station for an outstanding trespassing warrant and was held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

An investigation was ongoing.

Anyone with information was encouraged to contact LASD’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
