A man is in custody after a fatal stabbing in Simi Valley on Saturday morning, police confirmed.

Simi Valley police responded to an in-progress incident at 8:43 a.m. in the area of East Pinecrest Street and North Justin Avenue. According to authorities, it was a family disturbance that escalated to a stabbing by knife.

The victim, who has yet to be publicly identified, died at a local hospital.

Gerardo Arroyo-Almanza, a 34-year-old Simi Valley man, was identified as the suspect by police. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Pre-Trial Detention Facility.
