The victim’s aunt called police around 11:40 p.m. after finding his body on the floor of the garage of an apartment complex near the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Hazeltine Avenue (map), according to Lt. Jim Gavin of the Los Angeles Police Department.

He had been shot multiple times, Gavin said.

The victim’s name has not been released, and authorities have described him only as a Hispanic man in his early 20s.

According to the lieutenant, the victim resided in the garage of the apartment complex where the family lived because relatives claimed he had an “ongoing drinking problem.”

“The family did not want him living inside the house with them because of that issue,” Gavin said.

No arrests have been made in the case, nor did police have any description of the possible shooter or shooters.

Homicide detectives remained at the scene hours after the victim’s body was found.
