A man died after being struck by a train near Exposition Park on Thursday evening, the L.A. Fire Department said.
The man was struck at 5:39 p.m. on the Los Angeles Metro Line along the 1000 block of West Exposition Boulevard where the train was going eastbound, L.A. Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said in an alert.
He said the the train operator, who is a man, complained of pain and was taken to a local hospital. No one else aboard the train said they were injured.
Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The train was being held at the location as officials investigate what happened.
No further details about the incident have been released.
Metro officials said the train service was being delayed about 10 minutes as a result.
