Man’s Body Found on Bike Path in Bell; Gunman Sought

Police are searching for a gunman after the body of a shooting victim was found on a bike path in Bell Sunday night.

Officers responded to a shots fired call in the 5500 block of Gage Avenue about 11 p.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Tracy Koerner said.

The body of a man with at least one gunshot wound to his upper body was found on the bike path, Koerner said.

The victim was identified only as a Hispanic man.

The area where the victim was found is a known homeless encampment but it was unclear if the victim was homeless or why he was there.

No description of the gunman, who is still on the loose, was available.

It was also unclear if the shooter fled the scene on foot or in a vehicle.

No weapon was found at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Department is assisting in the investigation.
