The incident was reported about 8 a.m. on a trail near Mariposa and Lakeview avenues, near the entrance of the Yorba Linda Reservoir.

Jack Horn, 73, of Yorba Linda, was identified as the suspect in the shooting.

David Hernandez told KTLA that he was sitting in his living room on the other side of the reservoir when he heard a gunshot.

He went outside and saw officials yelling at a man, telling him to put the gun down. He added that the suspect’s wife was with him at the time and told authorities not to shoot at him.

The victim was flown to Orange County Global Medical Center and is expected to survive, officials said.

The relationship between the two men is also unknown, but apparently they were arguing before the shooting.

Horn was booked into Orange County jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
