When they arrived at the intersection, the man with the gun got out of his vehicle to block the Uber driver and began pounding on the hood of the car, Whittier Police said. That is when the Uber driver ran him over. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The rideshare driver remained at the scene and was taken into custody.

It was not immediately known what charges if any, the driver will face.

Police said the name of the deceased man was pending notification of next of kin.
