A man was killed and a woman was hospitalized in unknown condition after three vehicles crashed on the westbound 101 Freeway in Sherman Oaks Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A Honda vehicle went out of control and struck a wall before colliding with two other vehicles near Woodman Avenue around 2:45 a.m., CHP Sgt. Robert McIntosh said.
Two of the vehicles appeared mangled after the crash, with the front ends badly crumpled.
A man was pronounced dead at the scene, a woman was hospitalized in unknown condition, and a third person was injured but not transported.
The entire westbound side of the roadway was temporarily closed, and reopened around 7 a.m.
The cause of the crash was being investigated.
