An assault with a deadly weapon and a domestic violence incident were reported in the 300 block of North La Brea Avenue (map) at East India Grill around 3:15 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department Officer J. Twycross said. The location bordered Hancock Park and unincorporated Fairfax.

At least half of a silver or gold-colored SUV with paper plates appeared to be inside the restaurant, a photo of the scene posted to Instagram by Brian Suh showed.

The photo was captioned, “dude tried to run over his (girlfriend) after a fight.”

The vehicle had been reported stolen and the man who drove it into the restaurant was allegedly attempted to run over his girlfriend after an argument, Twycross said. The man was not at the scene when officials arrived

He was being sought for allegedly stealing the vehicle and for assault with a deadly weapon – the weapon being the SUV, Twycross said.
