A man and a woman were arrested in Carlsbad in connection with a stabbing last month in Silver Lake that left one person dead and another wounded, authorities said on Saturday.
LAPD homicide detectives on Friday alerted the Carlsbad Police Department that the two suspects in the case were living in the San Diego County city.
The Los Angeles Police Department identified them as Michael Lee Stotler and Maya Sharene Mcinnis, both 22 years old, Carlsbad police officials said in a news release.
Officers and detectives located a vehicle being driven by Stotler on Friday evening and initiated a traffic stop in the 4600 block of Carlsbad Boulevard, the release stated. Mcinnis was a passenger at the time.
Both were arrested without incident and released to the custody of LAPD, according to Carlsbad police.
The two were wanted in a double stabbing that occurred Feb. 20 in the area of Sunset Boulevard and Bates Avenue, miles away from the possible road-rage episode in Hollywood that apparently triggered the deadly incident, LAPD officials said at the time.
The victims were in an SUV when they flagged down police, but it was unclear whether they were inside or outside the vehicle when the stabbings took place.
An investigation into the case was ongoing.
Both suspects were behind bars in L.A. County jails; Stotler’s bail was set at $1 million, while Mcinnis was being held on $50,000 bail, inmate records showed.
No additional information has been released.
