A massive fire engulfed an apartment building in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles Friday night.
Around 50 firefighters responded to the two-story building located on the 115 block of South Catalina Street at around 4:50 p.m.
Arriving crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the upper-story windows. At least one person was seen running from the building while neighbors exited their nearby homes for safety.
Crews used ladders to access the roof where holes were cut to release smoke and heat from the structure.
Hose lines were deployed inside the building and crews were able to contain the fire to a single unit. Neighboring buildings were initially threatened before crews contained the flames.
The fire was eventually extinguished and no injuries to residents or fire crews were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
