Mercedes driver blows through red light in violent crash caught on video

Dashcam footage captured the moment the driver of a white Mercedes Benz barreled through a red light in the San Fernando Valley and smashed into a woman behind the wheel of an SUV late Wednesday night.

The incident, according to the Los Angeles Police Department, occurred just before 11 p.m. at the intersection of Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Saticoy Street in Sun Valley.

Footage of the incident captured on the SUV’s dashcam clearly shows the driver of the Mercedes blowing through the red light at a high rate of speed just moments before the violent collision.

In video obtained by KTLA of the crash aftermath, the Mercedes, which brought down the Saticoy Street traffic light pole after impact, sustained heavy damage, losing both the front and rear door on the driver’s side, and the rear door on the passenger side.

The front end of the SUV was also heavily damaged.

Medical personnel with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene where, according to the video gathering service RMG News, three people in the Mercedes, including a pregnant woman, were rushed to the hospital by ambulance.

Their conditions were not immediately known. The driver of the SUV was purportedly uninjured during the crash.

Traffic at the intersection was blocked while detectives with LAPD’s North Hollywood Traffic Division investigated the cause of the collision and crews worked to clear the area.

It is unclear at this point if drugs and or alcohol may have been a factor in the incident.
