An apparent murder-suicide left a husband and wife dead after a shooting outside a Stevenson Ranch Fed-Ex store, L.A. County Sheriff’s Department officials said Monday.
Deputies responded to the shooting around 8:40 p.m. Sunday in the 24900 block of Pico Canyon Road (map), officials said.
The incident occurred as the two left a Fex-Ex store, a sheriff’s department news release stated.
“The husband shot his wife and then himself. The weapon was recovered at the scene,” the release stated.
Stevenson Ranch is considered one of the safest areas in L.A. County’s 270 neighborhoods, and Sunday’s incident was the first killing in eight years, the Los Angeles Times reported.
“Since January 2000 to the present, Stevenson Ranch has seen only one killing: the 2007 fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old man” the Times stated.
Authorities were continuing to investigate the incident.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
