A San Diego police officer shot and wounded a naked man after a scuffle over the officer’s gun, police said Monday.
A woman had called police about noon to report that the man was trying to break into her home in the Mira Mesa neighborhood.
Police had sought to subdue the man with a Taser, but he attacked the officer, apparently knocking away his gun. The officer regained the gun and fired once.
The man, described as in his 20s, was hit once in the torso. He was taken to a hospital in what police described as critical but stable condition.
