A man was arrested after he allegedly stabbed his parents, killing his mother, police say.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to the 900 block of North Banning Boulevard near East Opp Street at 12:38 a.m. on reports of a multi-victim stabbing.
When they arrived, they found two victims inside a residence with multiple stab wounds, police said. One of them – identified only as a 42-year-old Hispanic woman – was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other victim, a 50-year-old Hispanic man, was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
A suspect was taken into custody, LAPD confirmed. He was described as a 20-year-old man who is believed to be the son of the victims, police told KTLA 5’s Erin Myers.
Video from the scene obtained by KTLA shows the suspect — who was covered in blood and wearing no clothes — being taken into custody.
Additional footage shows a bloody man sitting in the street with a large gash on his back. Police were also seen talking to a young woman wrapped in a blanket who appeared to be uninjured.
No injuries to officers or other civilians were reported.
