A hit-and-run in which a driver collided with a fire hydrant led to a massive geyser of water in the Inland Empire on Sunday.
In a post to Instagram, the Redlands Professional Firefighters Association and Redlands Fire Department showed the nearly 75-foot sprout of water. The sheared hydrant was located in the area of Lugonia Avenue and Research Drive.
Authorities said the swift response from firefighters saved thousands of gallons of water from going down a drain.
There was no word on whether a suspect in the alleged hit-and-run was identified.
