A landslide has endangered three homes in Newport Beach on Thursday.

The slide in the 1400 block of Galaxy Drive was reported around 4 a.m., according to John Pope with the city.

That location, which faces the back bay and the Upper Newport Bay State Marine Conservation Area, is only a few blocks from a similar slide in March 2023.

Three homes have been yellow-tagged as a result, including one that lost most of its backyard. The other two homes, located on either side of the first house, have not yet been damaged but were yellow-tagged out of precaution.

Crews are on the scene to protect life and property and limit the damage.
