The search continued Tuesday for an Orange County couple who vanished after leaving a San Diego County casino on Mother’s Day.
“At this point, nothing’s come up,” Debbie Apple — the daughter of Dianna Bedwell, who went missing Sunday along with her husband Cecil “Paul” Knutson — said Monday.
Knutson, 79, was last seen on surveillance video picking up Bedwell, 68, outside the Valley View Casino & Hotel in Valley Center (map) at about 2 p.m.
The couple was expected to go their son’s home — about two hours away in La Quinta — for a Mother’s Day dinner, but never arrived.
Investigators said the couple also never returned to their Anaheim home. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s homicide unit has entered the investigation, but the department cautioned that the effort remained a missing persons case.
Knutson and Bedwell left the casino in a 2014 White Hyundai Sonata with California license plate No. 7EHE981. A Silver Alert was issued for the vehicle on Monday by the California Highway Patrol.
All attempts by family members to contact the couple have been unsuccessful.
Both of their cellphones appear to have been turned off shortly after leaving the casino and a tracking device installed in the car was not responding, according to authorities.
Helicopter searches for the couple have also turned up nothing.
Family members fear the couple may have been kidnapped or carjacked.
“I’m going to find my parents. I don’t know how, in what state, but I’m going to find them … I owe it to them because they’ve given me everything,” Robert Acosta, Bedwell’s son said.
Bedwell and Knutson were both diabetic and were in need of medication, Knutson’s daughter Kristen Smith said.
