Firefighters were able to extinguish flames that broke out near the Hansen Dam in the San Fernando Valley on Wednesday.
The blaze was first reported just before noon in the recreation area at the base of the dam, according to an alert from the Los Angeles Fire Department.
By around 1:30 p.m., firefighters had knocked down the flames.
The fire ultimately covered about three acres of dense brush.
Aerial footage from Sky5 showed the flames were close to a film set, which firefighters said was dormant at the time. It was also not far from a children’s museum, but neither location was damaged.
Los Angeles County fire officials responded to assist the city’s fire crew, which consisted of about 96 firefighters.
The temperature in the area reached 98.5 degrees Fahrenheit on Wednesday afternoon, but wind in the area was light.
No homes or other structures were under immediate threat, officials said, and no evacuations were ordered.
The fire’s cause was under investigation.
