Man Killed After Crashing Into Parked Big Rig on 405 Freeway in Sherman Oaks Area: Fire Department

A man died after crashing his car into a parked big rig on the 405 Freeway in the Sherman Oaks area Friday morning, prompting two lanes to be closed.

The incident occurred on the northbound 405 just north of the 101 Freeway, Sky5 aerials showed around 7:25 a.m. The area borders Sherman Oaks and Van Nuys.

No one was inside the semi-truck, which was parked on the shoulder due to mechanical problems, when the car crashed into it, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The top part of the white car appeared completely crushed after the crash, and a man driving the car died at the scene.

A SigAlert was issued for the northbound 405 Freeway’s two far right lanes.

Traffic did not appear to be especially backed up immediately following the crash.
